Designed using EQ6 Software:

At SuzGuz Designs, we are thrilled to announce our very first free
Block-Of-The-Month (BOM), beginning January, 2008. The designs were made using the user-friendly EQ6 software.
The fabric I'm working with for this 12-Month project is Moda's "Swell", by Urban Chiks. This
is not a requirement for this project. However, if you'd like to use this fabric and you enjoy the ease
of shopping online, you can find Moda's "Swell" through the site links at the bottom of this page, or by checking with
your favorite quilt shops.
I had the distinct pleasure of attending my first International Quilt Market in
Houston during the last weekend of October, 2007. While there, I had the opportunity to purchase a Moda Fat Quarter
Bundle of this playful, vintage-inspired line. I will not be working with fabric requirements ahead of time (for the
entire 12 month program) with this club, since some Club Members will be using fabrics of their own choosing. Each
block will be 8 1/2", unfinished. Therefore, you will have minimal fabric requirements, due to the size of the block.
Your base fabric will be the largest pieces you'll need. Along with a photograph of my finished block,
you will be given direction on fabric used at the beginning of each month for that month's block.
This 12-month exercise is meant to show you what the creative process is all about, so think of it as a semi-Mystery BOM Club
and have fun with it! I will be using Swell's Fat Quarter Bundle as my main resource for the blocks (back ground
fabrics, as well as the fabrics I'll be using for the appliqued pieces). This information will also be noted each
month in your instructions.
The blocks you will be creating are original SuzGuz Designs creations, using EQ6
software. Purchasing this software is not required for this 12 month exercise, although it is a great, easy-to-use tool
for any of your quilting projects. If you own this software, please be sure to let us know when you sign up for
this, and we can send your file the EQ6 way!
The block templates you will receive were designed to be hand appliqued
but can also be machine appliqued, if you so desire.
A quilt has been designed around the 12 blocks you will
receive through this club and the pattern will be available for sale in the future. The entire pattern will
include motifs and elements that blend beautifully with the Moda fabrics that I chose for my samples. But remember that the
quilt design is quite versatile and you may use your own choice of fabrics if you prefer. Keeping in mind that the blocks
and quilt design were created with Moda's "Swell" by Urban Chiks in mind, I'm sure you'll be pleased
with the outcome of the cut and coordination of these fabrics or the fabrics you choose to use.
Thank you for participating!
